Trip to Moscow, Russia

Day 1: Arrival and City Tour

Upon arrival in Moscow, your first stop should be the Red Square, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Red Square is a must-visit location, as it marks the center of Moscow and is home to St. Basil’s Cathedral, Lenin’s Mausoleum, and the State Historical Museum. After a stroll through the Red Square, take a walk to the Moscow Kremlin, which is the historic fortified complex that includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the famous Diamond Fund. The Kremlin has played a significant role in the history of Moscow and continues to be an operational center of power to this day. In the evening, you can visit the lovely Arbat Street, which is a vibrant pedestrian avenue that offers various shops, cafes, restaurants, and street performers.

Day 2: Moscow Metro and Tverskaya Boulevard

On this day, you can experience the Moscow Metro, which is famous for its elegant architecture and beautiful mosaics that adorn its walls. En route to Tverskaya Boulevard, where you can find the most exclusive shops and restaurants in the city, you’ll get to stop at the most beautiful Metro stations for photos. Once at Tverskaya Boulevard, you can take a walk through this upscale shopping district and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city’s bustling retail hub.

Day 3: Lenin’s Mausoleum and Gorky Park

In the morning, visit Lenin’s Mausoleum, which is located inside the Red Square. Lenin’s Mausoleum is the final resting place of the leader of the Soviet Union, Vladimir Lenin. Afterward, take a walk to Gorky Park, which is a massive 300-acre urban park that features various outdoor and indoor activities. Gorky Park has undergone significant renovations in recent years and now offers several dining options, ice-skating, indoor and outdoor sports, and a dancing fountain.

Day 4: Moscow State Circus and Christ the Saviour Cathedral

On this day, visit the famous Moscow State Circus, which is located in Tsvetnoy Boulevard. This incredible performance art venue has been entertaining audiences since 1880 and is home to some of the most talented performers in the world. In the evening, head to the Christ the Saviour Cathedral, which is one of the largest Orthodox Christian cathedrals in the world. The Cathedral boasts a beautiful interior and also offers an observation deck with views of Moscow’s skyline.

Day 5: Pushkin Museum and Bolshoi Theater

Today, explore the Pushkin Museum, which is the largest European art museum in Moscow and the second-largest in Russia. The museum has a vast collection, including works by Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Pablo Picasso. You’ll then take a walk to the Bolshoi Theater, which is arguably the most famous theater in the world. The Bolshoi Theater has hosted some of the most celebrated ballet and opera performances in history, including Swan Lake and Don Quixote.

Day 6: Moscow River Cruise and VDNKh

On this day, explore the city from a different perspective with a Moscow River Cruise. The cruise will take you past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the famous Moscow Kremlin and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. Later, head over to the VDNKh, which is an enormous park and exhibition complex that also features various activities. You’ll also have the opportunity to eat at one of the numerous food stalls and restaurants that offer signature dishes from different regions of Russia.

Day 7: Departure

On your final day, you can spend some time shopping for souvenirs and exploring the city at your leisure before departing. Just make sure to save time to visit the GUM, which is an upscale shopping mall that features luxury brands such as Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton, among others. You can also take a stroll through the Izmailovsky Market, which is a traditional flea market that offers various handmade items, including jewelry, matryoshka dolls, and traditional Russian souvenirs.
