Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

Welcome to Serbia! After you check yourself into your hotel, you’ll likely want some time to rest and rejuvenate after your journey. You can start by exploring the surrounding area by taking a leisurely walk around the city centre. The city is rich in history and the architecture of the buildings reflects this. You can see some lovely examples of Serbian Baroque buildings as well as some Soviet-era apartment blocks. You can also check out cafes and restaurants for a bite to eat. After that, head back to your hotel and get a good night’s rest before you begin your adventure tomorrow.

Day 2: Exploring the history

Serbia is a country with a rich history, and Kragujevac reflects this with its many parks and monuments. Your first stop should be the National Museum, the oldest museum in Serbia, which houses a collection of art and historical artefacts. The museum also features a reconstructed cabin where one of the famous Serbian poets Milutin Bojic, used to live. Afterward, visit the Prince Michael Mausoleum, which is dedicated to the famous Prince Michael of Serbia. Another location to visit would be the First High School, monument dedicated to students and professors executed by Nazis in October 1941.

Day 3: Shopping and Nightlife

Take a stroll down Knez Mihajlova Street in the evening, a street lined with beautiful buildings, high-end shops, and delicious restaurants. Stop for a meal in one of the many stylish restaurants, or enjoy a drink in one of the trendy bars. Depending on your taste, there are many places to choose from. Why not try the local Rakija to get a feel of this region?

Day 4: Visit the Monasteries

Serbia boasts some of the most beautiful monasteries in Europe, many of them in the vicinity of Kragujevac. Today, you can take a guided tour to some of the monasteries, including the famous Ravanica Monastery and Blagoveštenije Monastery. The trip will give you an opportunity to learn about the rich history of Serbian Orthodoxy. You can also take a visit to the nearby Šumarice Memorial Park to pay respects to those who lost their lives in World War II.

Day 5: Day Trip to Belgrade

Belgrade is the capital city of Serbia and is located just over 1 hour by car from Kragujevac. It is well worth the trip to see the buildings of Beogradska Kapija, Kalemegdan Fortress and enjoy shopping in the streets of Knez Mihailova. The city also has a vibrant nightlife, with bars and clubs staying open until the early hours of the morning.

Day 6: Outdoor Activities

Spend your morning exploring the beautiful nature that surrounds Kragujevac by visiting the beautiful Šumarice park, several kilometers closer to the downtown of Kragujevac. Here you can walk around the park, admire beautiful flower displays, visit open-air museums like the Monument of Kragujevac Massacre, catch a concert or a festival in outdoor theatre. Later, grab a bike or a horse and head out to explore the surrounding area. You could head to the nearby Ovčar-Kablar Gorge with its picturesque river, stunning waterfalls, and abundance of wildlife.

Day 7: Departure

Today is your final day in Kragujevac. You can take the opportunity today to relax, catch up on any last-minute shopping or enjoy the quaint cafes before preparing for your trip back home. Or head out to the airport for your flight back home, leaving with a plethora of memories from your trip to this beautiful Serbian city.
