Day 1: Arrival and Ljubljana City Tour
Arrive at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport and transfer to your hotel. After check-in, take a Ljubljana city tour to get to know the city. You’ll explore the ancient streets of the old town, cross numerous bridges over the Ljubljanica River, and admire the blend of Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau architecture that characterizes the city. Take in the stunning views of the Ljubljana Castle, the Triple Bridge, and St. Nicholas Cathedral. Your tour guide will also give you an insight into the history, culture, and traditions of Ljubljana. End your day with a delicious Slovenian dinner at one of the local restaurants.
Day 2: Bled Lake and Bled Castle
Depart from Ljubljana to the stunning Bled Lake, one of the most picturesque spots in Slovenia. Take a stroll around the lake or rent a boat and paddle to the island in the middle of the lake. You can climb 99 steps to reach the Assumption of Mary Church or ring the bell for good luck. Afterward, go up to Bled Castle, a towering hilltop fortress that looks over the lake and castle terraces. Day 3: Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle
Travel to Postojna Cave, a network of over 20 km of underground tunnels and galleries, carved out by the Pivka River over millions of years. Take a guided tour to see the stunning stalactites, stalagmites, and other limestone formations, as well as the rare and endangered animal species, such as the olm or human fish, unique to this cave ecosystem. Afterward, head to Predjama Castle, a majestic Renaissance fortress built into a cliff overhang, you’ll learn about its turbulent history, famous myth, and legend while walking around the castle chambers and courtyards, including the torture chamber and Knight’s Hall. Day 4: Skofja Loka and Medvode Old Castle Tour
Today we’ll step back into history to visit Skofja Loka, one of the most beautifully preserved medieval towns in Slovenia. Here, you will see the 10th-century Castle, which housed numerous feudal lords, and marvel at the 15th-century church of St. Jacob the Apostle, decorated with frescoes by famous Slovene painters. Afterward, we’ll visit Medvode’s Old Castle, a beautiful Renaissance castle from the 16th century. Admire the architecture, take in the stunning views from the courtyard, and explore the museum showcasing the rich medieval history of Ljubljana and its surroundings. End your day with local delicious cuisine and drinks accompanied by live local music to enhance your experience further.
Day 5: Emerald River Tour
Experience the beauty of Slovenia’s great outdoors by exploring the Emerald River, a hidden gem in the landscape. The crystal-clear emerald green waters of the Soca River run through the mountainous landscape of Triglav National Park. You will enjoy fly fishing, hiking, trekking, and taking nature walks amid Slovenia’s most unspoiled and breathtaking scenery or take the challenging adventure route and go white-water rafting. End your day by trying some of the local delicacies that feature fresh fish and seafood.
Day 6: Škocjan Caves and Wine Tasting
Visit the UNESCO world heritage site, Škocjan Caves - an underground canyon system. The Škocjan Caves are a unique natural phenomenon that will take your breath away at first glance. The caves consist of world’s largest underground canyon and are home to some of the largest underground caverns. The area is also notable because of the reversible flow of the Reka River. After the caves tour, head to the nearby Karst wine region, visit a local vineyard, and indulge in wine tasting alongside a light snacks platter.
Day 7: Departure
Depart from Ljubljana, Slovenia by plane. Airport transfer is included from your hotel.
