Trip to Johannesburg, South Africa

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

Upon arrival at O.R Tambo International Airport, you will be transported to your hotel to settle in and rest. You can enjoy the leisure facilities at the hotel such as the swimming pool, spa, and enjoy an afternoon tea or coffee. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Johannesburg

On your second day, you will go on a sightseeing tour and start with a drive to the top of the Carlton Centre for panoramic views of the city. You will then visit the Apartheid Museum, which showcases the history of South Africa to better understand the country’s past. After that, you will have a chance to visit Mandela House, a museum showcasing the life of Nelson Mandela. Finally, you will visit Constitution Hill, an old prison complex turned museum chronicling South Africa’s history and law struggles.

Day 3: Shopping in Johannesburg

Johannesburg is known for its excellent shopping experiences, and today, you will get to fully immerse yourself in South Africa’s shopping culture. Start by visiting Sandton City, Johannesburg’ most prominent shopping centre, which is also home to many luxury shops. Then head over to the Rosebank Mall, which is renowned for its African crafts, clothing, and art. Finally, end the day off in Maboneng, an urban neighborhood that is home to a variety of local shops, galleries, and great food.

Day 4: Visit the Cradle of Humankind

Today you will set off on a full-day tour to the Cradle of Humankind, a world heritage site and the place where the first hominid, Australopithecus was found. This scenic tour will take you through the countryside and pass through small towns leading up to the limestone caves where the remains of early humans were discovered. The tour includes an underground boat ride through the illuminated Wonder Cave.

Day 5: Pretoria Tour

Today you will go to the Jacaranda City, home to the administrative capital of South Africa, Pretoria. You will start with a visit to the Voortrekker Monument, which commemorates the migration of Dutch and Afrikaans-speaking settlers to the interior of South Africa from the Cape Colony. Next will be a visit to the Union Buildings, which is an official government residence and a tribute to former President Nelson Mandela. Some leisure time exploring the Pretoria Zoo, which hosts many rare and endangered species.

Day 6: Cultural Visit to Soweto

Today, you will enjoy a cultural tour of Soweto, South Africa’s most famous township. Take in the local vibe with a bicycle tour visiting community programs and historical landmarks such as the Hector Pieterson Museum, where the Soweto Uprising began, and the Mandela House. You will also get to visit the Ubuntu Kraal, a cultural village that showcases the country’s various cultural practices and also enjoy a traditional lunch.

Day 7: Farewell and Departure

On the last day, you can enjoy some leisure at the hotel before being transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
