Trip to Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Day 1: Arrival in Kingstown
Today you arrive at the Argyle International Airport, located about 30 minutes from Kingstown. Once you land, your first stop should be the currency exchange to avoid any additional fees. After exchanging your currency, you could consider grabbing a taxi or rental car to travel to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the town center and its markets, including the craft and vegetable markets which are a must see for a taste of the local culture.
Day 2: Island Tour
Start your tour of the island with a visit to Fort Charlotte to get a panoramic view of the sea and surrounding lands. After taking in the scenic views, head onwards to the Vermont Nature Trail where you can walk through the lush forest and view some of the island’s endemic species. For lunch, try some of the local seafood delights at the Buccament Bay Beach Resort. End your day with the beautiful white sand beaches of Villa Beach or Indian Bay Beach to soak in the hot Caribbean sun.
Day 3: Explore the Grenadines
Hop on a ferry to Bequia, part of the Grenadines and one of the more remote islands to visit. Once there, explore the quaint town and the artisanal crafts, or take a walk along Princess Margaret Beach. On your way back, stop by the Tobago Cays National Marine Park, which includes five deserted islands encircled by coral reefs. When back in Kingstown, try the local food scene for dinner.
Day 4: St. Vincent Botanic Garden
The island is home to a breathtaking Botanical Gardens which spreads over 20 acres and includes a wide variety of exotic plants and trees native to the island. This garden is over 250 years old and worth taking the time to explore. After lunch, head to the picturesque Owia Salt Pond, a naturally formed tidal pool. Take a relaxing dip in the crystal clear water and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
Day 5: Lay Day
Take a break from full day trips and indulge in some R&R at the beach or by the pool. For any shopping fanatics, take the day out to visit Baywalk Mall and Duty-Free Shopping Center. Here, you can go from store to store, grabbing amazing deals and taking advantage of the island’s duty-free prices.
Day 6: Hike La Soufrière Volcano
You, of course, don’t want your trip to end without some good exercise! Take a drive up La Soufrière Volcano, a 4,048-foot (1,234-meter) active volcano. Begin your climb early in the morning and reach the peak in about 3 hours. At the top, bask in the stunning views of the coastline and the volcano’s volcanic crater. After completing that, take a break and relax before the homebound journey tomorrow.
Day 7: Departure
Today is the last day of your vacation. Spend your time soaking in the last moments by the pool or beach. After picking up some souvenirs from the local shops, head to the airport for your flight home.
