Day 1: Arrival and Old Town Walk
Welcome to Stockholm, Sweden! Check into your hotel and take a moment to relax, freshen up and then head out to explore the city. Walk through the charming streets of Gamla Stan, the Old Town of Stockholm, which is home to the Royal Palace, the medieval streets and buildings that date back to the 13th century, and the beautiful narrow alleys with interesting shops, cafes and restaurants. Take the time to visit the Nobel Museum, which showcases the contributions of Nobel laureates. Discover the rich history of Sweden and its people by taking a guided walking tour of this intriguing district. You could learn about the founding of the city, discover the medieval alleyways, the historical architecture, and take a stroll along the cobbled streets. Stockholm is a very walk-able city so exploring it by foot is the best way to discover all its hidden treasures.
Day 2: Djurgården and Vasa Museum
Today you will visit Djurgården, an island in central Stockholm and a popular recreational area with museums, galleries, parks and family attractions. The island is easily accessible by ferry or tram and is home to the famous Vasa Museum, which houses the world’s only preserved 17th-century ship. The ship, Vasa, was salvaged from the bottom of the sea after 333 years and now stands majestically at the museum for all to admire. Additionally, you can also explore the Skansen Open-Air Museum which offers a unique insight into Sweden’s rural customs and traditions by showcasing a living history museum that is packed with traditional buildings and artefacts from Swedish history.
Day 3: Shopping and ABBA Museum
Indulge in some retail therapy on this day. Stockholm is a vibrant city that boasts some of the best shopping experiences in Europe. Visit the popular shopping district of Södermalm, with its many local and international brands and stores, and indulge in a spot of retail therapy. Södermalm has many small independent stores and designer delights as well as chain stores for all tastes - from vintage boutiques and up to high-end luxury designers. Later in the afternoon, head to the ABBA Museum, which showcases the history of the legendary pop group ABBA. The museum is a fascinating experience that captures their rise to fame and the cultural impact that they had on the world.
Day 4: The Royal Palace and Nightlife in Stureplan
Today you will explore the Royal Palace in Stockholm, which is one of the largest palaces in Europe and the official residence of the King of Sweden. The palace features more than 600 rooms, gorgeous state apartments, and the Royal Armory, which boasts a collection of royal coaches, costumes, and armoury. From there, you can head to the exclusive district of Stureplan, famous for its restaurants and buzzing nightlife. Enjoy a night out in style with fine dining and partying the night away in popular clubs such as Spy Bar, or Berns, where you can dance to the latest tunes from various famous DJs.
Day 5: Stockholm Archipelago
Today, you will discover the remarkable Stockholm Archipelago and explore some of the 30,000 islands that surround the city. Take a ferry tour that departs from the city centre, with its beautiful scenery, picturesque bays, tranquil forests, and crystal-clear waters. These islands are ideal for water sports enthusiasts, fishing expeditions, camping and hiking. It is also worth visiting some of the quaint fishing villages that are dotted throughout the islands. Gålö Naturreservat, an 800-hectare nature reserve just outside Stockholm, offers numerous activities, such as hiking and bird-watching among its beautiful and varied landscapes.
Day 6: Art and Culture
Today you will explore Stockholm’s wealth of culture and art. Visit the Museum of Modern Art, the main museum of contemporary and modern art in Stockholm, featuring many of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries along with extensive exhibitions of photography, prints and drawings. After lunch, take a stroll around the picturesque district of Östermalm, known for its bohemian vibes, art galleries and antique stores. Explore the Fotografiska Museum, showcasing some of the finest photography in Scandinavia and one of the most visited museums in Stockholm.
Day 7: Departure
Today is your departure day, and you can spend the morning exploring Stockholm, at your leisure. It is the perfect time to revisit a favourite location, shop for souvenirs or even enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Remember to take your time and soak up all the charm of this beautiful city with its captivating culture and history. Then, head to the airport for your flight back home.
