Day 1: Arrival and Food Tour

Upon arrival at Taichung International Airport, check in to your hotel and get settled. Afterward, treat your taste buds to a food tour of Taichung, which is famous for its street food. Start by trying some of the local delicacies such as ‘Gua Bao’, steamed buns filled with pork belly and pickled vegetables and ‘Xiao Long Bao’, steamed dumplings that come with a savory meat filling that explodes in your mouth as you bite into them! You can also try the ‘Oyster Omelette’ that’s crispy on the outside with a chewy center which is swirled with eggs, oysters, and veggies. For dessert, try the ‘Bubble Tea’ at the famous Chun Shui Tang tea house, the place where bubble tea was invented. You can also visit the Feng Chia Night Market, home to a wide variety of traditional Taiwanese snacks and local dishes.

Day 2: Exploring National Parks

Explore the natural beauty of Taiwan by spending the day at Taroko National Park. This park features the world-renowned Taroko Gorge, which is located north of the central mountain range. Some of the highlights of the park include the Eternal Spring Shrine, the Swallow Grotto Trail and the Baiyang Waterfall Trail. The park is home to diverse flora and fauna, geology, and culture. Spend the day hiking and experiencing the stunning vistas, old-world architecture, Buddhist temples, and local hunting traditions.

Day 3: City Tour and Nightlife

Explore Taichung with a guided walking tour that includes visiting the National Museum of Natural Science, the Rainbow Village, and the Lavender Cottage. This district is famous for its cultural sights, traditional handicrafts, and lush gardens. The National Museum of Natural Science is home to interesting exhibitions on geology, anthropology, and ecology. The Rainbow Village is a colorful, Instagram-able location that makes for the perfect photo opportunity. The Lavender Cottage is another famous attraction where you can enjoy lavender-themed food and drinks. In the evening, experience Taichung’s nightlife by visiting one of its many bars, clubs, and lounges. Check out the popular “100 Pub” for locals, where you’ll get to sample local beer while socializing with the friendly Taiwanese.

Day 4: Day Trip to Sun Moon Lake

Take a day trip to Sun Moon Lake, one of Taiwan’s most popular tourist destinations. Situated in the mountains, it’s a tranquil and scenic location that features a variety of things to do. Visitors can explore the Ita Thao Village, enjoy a short cruise, hike to a nearby pagoda, or just enjoy the tranquility of the lake. There are several local restaurants around the area that offer delicious meals for lunch or dinner.

Day 5: Taichung’s Art Scene

Explore the art and culture of Taichung’s Miyahara Building, once an eye hospital and now home to ice cream parlors and gift shops. Don’t miss the Grand Opening Miya store on the first floor, which is known for its selection of cakes, cookies, chocolates, and more. You can also move on to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, which is home to some of Taiwan’s most famous paintings, sculptures, and photographs. In the evening, catch a performance or concert at the National Taichung Theater, a unique and iconic building known for its shape and acoustics.

Day 6: Shopping at the Jungang Market

Jungang Market is one of the oldest and largest markets in Taichung. It is home to a variety of vendors which sell local produce, souvenirs, arts and crafts, and more. Spend the day wandering the stalls of this lively marketplace, where you will find everything from trendy clothing to fresh fish and fruit. You can sample local delicacies, try traditional tea, purchase homemade soap or shop for colorful lanterns. Jungang Market is truly a shopper’s paradise.

Day 7: Departure

Check out from your hotel and make your way to Taichung International Airport for your return home.
