Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago
Point Fortin is a small and peaceful city located in southern Trinidad, known for its historical significance as a center for oil and gas production. The city is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, such as beaches, hills, and forests, which offer many opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and swimming.
Day 1: Arrival in Trinidad and Tobago
Welcome to the beautiful country of Trinidad and Tobago! Upon your arrival at Piarco International Airport, you will be met by a private transfer that will take you to your hotel in Point Fortin. This coastal town, known for its stunning beaches and relaxed atmosphere, will be your home for the next seven days. After settling in, you can spend the rest of the day exploring the town and its beautiful surroundings. Take a stroll on the serene sandy beaches or head to the local markets for some shopping. As the day comes to a close, enjoy dinner at one of the many waterfront restaurants in the town.
Day 2: Pitch Lake Tour
Today you will visit one of the most unique natural wonders in the world - the Pitch Lake, located just outside Point Fortin. This sprawling 100-acre lake is a hotspot for tourists due to its rarity - it’s the largest natural deposit of asphalt in the world! Take a guided tour of the lake and learn about its fascinating geological history. The tour includes a visit to the onsite museum, where you can see artifacts and exhibits that detail the lake’s history. After the tour, head to the south coast of the island to enjoy some of the stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters that Trinidad and Tobago is known for.
Day 3: Salybia Nature Reserve
Today, head to the Salybia Nature Reserve for a day of adventure and exploration. The reserve, which covers over 800 acres of land, is home to an abundance of flora and fauna, including hundreds of species of birds. Take a hike along one of the nature trails and enjoy breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and lush tropical forests. If you are lucky, you might even spot some of the resident wildlife, including monkeys and iguanas. The reserve also has a beautiful lagoon that is perfect for swimming and kayaking. So pack a picnic and spend a day in the great outdoors!
Day 4: Beach Day
Today is all about relaxation and beach time. Trinidad and Tobago are home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Spend your day lounging under the sun, swimming in the clear waters or indulging in some water sports activities like surfing, windsurfing, and paddleboarding. You can also take a snorkeling trip to nearby Buccoo Reef to explore the underwater world and witness colorful sea life. At the end of the day, enjoy cocktails and live music at a local beach bar.
Day 5: Tobago Island Tour
Today you’ll be taking an Island tour to Tobago, just a short ferry ride from Point Fortin. After arriving, you’ll start your exploration of the island visiting the picturesque fishing village of Charlotteville. You’ll have the opportunity to visit Flagstaff Hill for panoramic views of the island, as well as the famous Nylon Pool natural swimming pool, which is located a few hundred feet off the coast. You’ll also visit Pigeon Point Heritage Park to relax on the beach and swim in the crystal-clear waters before returning to Point Fortin.
Day 6: Nightlife in Port of Spain
Today, head to the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, Port of Spain, for a taste of the local nightlife. The city has a range of nightlife options, from trendy bars to full-blown nightclubs, so there’s something for everyone. You’ll also have a chance to sample some of Trinidad and Tobago’s famous street food scene, which includes doubles, a local staple consisting of fried dough filled with spicy chana (chickpeas). Make sure to try the local drink, a rum punch, while you’re out on the town.
Day 7: Departure
Today is your last day in paradise. Spend the morning taking in your final sights in Point Fortin before being transferred to Piarco International Airport for your flight home. Saying goodbye to Trinidad and Tobago won’t be easy, but the memories of your tropical getaway will last a lifetime.
