Trip to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago

Day 1: Arrival in Port of Spain

Upon arrival in Port of Spain, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and take in the Caribbean atmosphere. In the afternoon, head to the popular Ariapita Avenue for some retail therapy and a taste of Trinidadian street food like doubles, pholourie and roti.

Day 2: Discovering Port of Spain

Start your morning with a visit to the Queen’s Park Savannah, one of the largest parks in the Caribbean. It is also home to the Botanical Gardens, where you can explore over 700 species of exotic plants. Later, head to the Red House, the seat of the Trinidadian parliament, with its beautiful red facade. End your day at the iconic MovieTowne complex, for dinner and a movie.

Day 3: Beach Day

No trip to Trinidad and Tobago is complete without a day at the beach, so head to Maracas Beach, situated on the north coast of Trinidad. Enjoy a soak in the crystal-clear waters and indulge in local delicacies like Bake and Shark and coconut water. After a day on the beach, return to your hotel for a night of relaxation.

Day 4: Trip to the Countryside

Today, venture outside of Port of Spain and explore the lush green countryside of the island. Visit the beautiful Asa Wright Nature Centre, famous for its birdwatching tours and scenic hiking trails. After this, you can visit the Caroni Swamp, home to iguanas, crabs, snakes, and the stunning national bird, the scarlet ibis.

Day 5: Carnival Museum and Steelpan Factory

Today, discover Trinidad and Tobago’s two most important cultural creations. Start your day at the Carnival Museum in Port of Spain where you will learn about the history of the festival and its significance to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. After this, visit the pan factory to learn how the national instrument, the steelpan, is made, and try your hand at playing it.

Day 6: Exploring Tobago

Take a morning flight from Port of Spain to Tobago, the smaller and more laid-back of the two islands. Start your day by exploring the lush greenery of the island’s rainforest, followed by a visit to the famous Buccoo Reef. Discover the vibrant biodiversity of this natural treasure with an underwater tour in the glass-bottom boats. Finish the day with a relaxing swim at Pigeon Point, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean.

Day 7: Departure

On your last day, take a morning swim in the pool or have a leisurely breakfast before checking out and heading back to Port of Spain. You can visit Movietowne once more for some last-minute shopping before heading to the airport for your flight home.
