Day 1: Arrival

After arriving at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, get settled into your hotel and rest. If you want to do something, check out the Konak Square. It is the symbol of the city and is surrounded by some of the best coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques. Take a stroll down the Kordon and enjoy the scenic view of the Aegean Sea.

Day 2: Visit the ancient city of Ephesus

Ephesus is Turkey’s most popular archaeological site and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This is where Saint Paul wrote his letters to the Ephesians. The city is filled with plenty of ancient history and beauty. The Roman Library of Celsus and the grand theater are some of the highlights here. Make sure to bring sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat as it can get hot.

Day 3: Explore the Agora Open Market

The Agora is an outdoor market in the city center that offers street food, clothing, jewelry, spices and pottery. It is a great place to get a feel of the local culture and traditions. You can easily find souvenirs for yourself and your family back home. Be ready to bargain since this is part of the market culture.

Day 4: Discover the Kemeralti Bazaar

Kemeralti is an indoor bazaar that dates back to the 17th century. This market features Ottoman-era architecture and has a large variety of goods, including clothes, jewelry, and spices. You can easily spend an entire afternoon getting lost in the maze of stores and bargaining for goods.

Day 5: Visit the city’s museum

The Archaeology Museum of Izmir is home to many stunning artifacts, including sculptures that date back to 8th century BC and exhibits that showcase the city’s history. You will find a mix of artifacts from the ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires. Make sure you give yourself enough time to see everything.

Day 6: Day trip to Sirince Village

Spend the day at the charming village of Sirince which is located about 30 minutes from the city center. Explore the narrow streets and enjoy local delicacies such as homemade fruit wines, jams, and olive oil. Afterwards you can sit at a rooftop cafe and enjoy the stunning view of valley.

Day 7: Sunset at Kadifekale

Kadifekale is a hill located on the outskirts of the city that offers a panoramic view of Izmir. Visit during the early evening so that you can take photos of the sunset and the city’s vibrant nightlife. It is also a great spot to enjoy some tea or coffee.
