Day 1: Arrival and Cardiff Bay Exploration

Upon your arrival in Cardiff, your first day will be dedicated to taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling waterfront at Cardiff Bay. During your visit, you can enjoy a leisurely walk along the bay, and enjoy the stunning view of the waterfront. Start at the Wales Millennium Centre which is considered as one of the most iconic landmarks in Cardiff where you will have a chance to witness the variety of performing arts held at the site. From there, head over to Mermaid Quay, which is just next door and hosts a variety of bars, restaurants, and shops, all overlooking the waterfront, which is perfect for relaxing after your journey.

Day 2: Cardiff Castle and City Centre

On your second day, you will start off with the Cardiff Castle which dates back to the late 11th century. The castle has a long and varied history including being an internment camp during World War II. You will marvel at impressive architecture, explore the different rooms and halls of the castle, and enjoy the beautiful gardens in the castle grounds.

In the afternoon, head over to the city centre, it’s just a short walk away from the castle. Day 3: St Fagans National Museum of History and Llandaff Cathedral

Start your day with a visit to St. Fagans National Museum of History, which is located in a beautiful outdoor setting. The museum features over 40 historical buildings that were moved to the museum site from all over Wales, and showcase different periods of Welsh history. The buildings range from a medieval townhouse to a farm found in the hills of Wales.

In the afternoon, head over to Llandaff Cathedral. You will be struck by the grandeur of this beautiful cathedral as well as its serene beauty. The cathedral was badly damaged during World War II, but has since been fully restored to its original grandeur.

Day 4: Roath Park and Cardiff Bay Boat Tour

Spend the day in the beautiful surroundings of Roath Park, which is one of the most beautiful parks in Cardiff, situated towards the outskirts of the city. Here you can enjoy taking in the stunning scenery, feeding the ducks or even rent a boat on the lake. In the afternoon, head back to Cardiff Bay and take a boat tour. The boat tours are specially designed to provide a unique view of Cardiff Bay from the waters, and to learn about the city from a different perspective.

Day 5: Shopping and Dining

On your fifth day, take advantage of Cardiff’s vibrant shopping scene. Visit any of the many shopping centres in the city which range from high street stores and designer brands, to vintage clothes and much more. The city centre also boasts plenty of eateries ranging from street vendors to high-end restaurants. Therefore, take pleasure in sampling some of the delicious foods that are on offer.

Day 6: Brecon Beacons National Park

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, then head out to the Brecon Beacons National Park, which is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Wales. You will have a chance to climb mountains, explore the woods and see some incredible wildlife. You can also hike across Pen y Fan, which is the highest mountain in the national park.

Day 7: Cardiff Bay Nightlife

Finish off your trip to Cardiff by experiencing nightlife in the fabulous bar and club scene of Cardiff Bay. There is no lack of options here, no matter what type of music you prefer.
