Day 1: Exploring Rach Gia
Welcome to Rach Gia! Spend your first day exploring the city. Rach Gia is a bustling city in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam with plenty of sights to see and things to do. Take a stroll along the riverfront to admire the beautiful views and snap some photos. Visit the nearby Rach Gia Market and wander through the stalls selling traditional Vietnamese goods. For those interested in history, check out the Nguyen Trung Truc Temple, a memorial to a famous Vietnamese revolutionary who fought against French colonialism in the 19th century. End your day with some authentic Vietnamese food at one of Rach Gia’s many local eateries.
Day 2: Island Hopping
Spend the day on the beautiful nearby islands of Nam Du and Hon Son. These islands offer some of the most beautiful beaches and scenic views in Vietnam. Take a boat ride to the islands and spend the day exploring the beaches and crystal clear waters. You can even rent a kayak to explore the surrounding islets. In the evening, return to Rach Gia and unwind with some drinks at one of the city’s many bars.
Day 3: Trip to Ha Tien
Take a day trip to the nearby town of Ha Tien, just an hour drive from Rach Gia. Ha Tien is a small town with plenty of charm and historic sites to explore. Visit the stunning Dong Ho Lake, a serene body of water surrounded by limestone cliffs. Walk through the town’s vibrant market and check out the unique goods on offer. Make sure to stop by the Mac Cuu Family Temple, a beautiful place of worship and important historical site. In the evening, return to Rach Gia and indulge in some Vietnamese cuisine.
Day 4: Vinh Thuan Beach
Spend the day at Vinh Thuan Beach, which is located just a short drive from Rach Gia. This beach is a local favorite and is known for its clean waters and beautiful scenery. Spend the day sunbathing and swimming, or rent a paddleboard to explore the surrounding coastline. There are also local restaurants and bars where you can grab a drink or a bite to eat.
Day 5: Bird Watching
Rach Gia is home to a variety of bird species, making it a great destination for bird watchers. Spend the day exploring the local bird sanctuaries, such as the U Minh Thuong National Park and Tra Su Cajuput Forest. These locations offer tranquil natural surroundings and a chance to witness some incredible bird species up close. In the evening, return to Rach Gia and explore the local nightlife scene.
Day 6: Cultural Tour
Take a cultural tour of Rach Gia to learn more about the local traditions and customs. Visit the small fishing village of Ganh Dau, where you can see traditional fishing techniques in action. Next, visit a local rice field and learn about the process of growing rice. Finish your tour with a visit to a local pagoda, where you can learn about Vietnamese Buddhism and witness a traditional prayer ceremony.
Day 7: Shopping
Spend your last day in Vietnam indulging in some retail therapy. Rach Gia has a wide variety of shopping options, from traditional markets selling handmade crafts and souvenirs to local malls. Check out the Vinh Lac Square Shopping Center for more modern brands and stores. Be sure to pick up some local specialty products such as dried shrimp or fish sauce to take home as a souvenir or gift. End your day with a final meal of traditional Vietnamese cuisine before heading back home.
